How long is my ad going to be online for?
Rental Listings will be activated for 15 days once payment is received. House Exchanges are will be activated for 180 days once payment is received.
How can I pay for my ad?
Ad's can be paid by Visa, MasterCard, Cash or Debit. You can pay in person at the Housing Office or call 250-721-8395 to pay with a Visa or Master Card. We do not accept credit card payments online at this time. Click here to see our current hours of operation.
I have posted an ad before, can I renew this ad?
You can only renew an expired ad within 30 days of it expiring. After 30 days you can still view the content of your expired ads but you can cannot renew them. To view an expired ad login to your account and then click on "my expired ads". If you click on the expired ad you can copy the description and then paste it into a new ad.
I can’t remember my password, what should I do?
In the Off Campus login page underneath the "login" icon you can click on "Forgot password" and it will be emailed to you.
I can’t remember my username what should I do?
You can call 250-721-8395 or email housing@uvic.ca to get your username.
How to I add photos to my ad?
While you are placing your ad there is a place to add photos. Click on the browse icon to locate the image on your computer and then click OK to upload the image. Images cannot be larger than 1MB.
How do I edit my ad?
After you have placed your ad you will not be able to edit it until it is activated. Once an ad is activated you can log back into your account then click on "my active ads" to edit text or add photos.
How much should I charge for my rental?
The best way to determine how much you should charge is to browse other listings to see what other people are charging. For example if you have a bedroom to rent for a student then go to Off Campus webpage and on the left hand side click on the heading "Student Listings". This will bring you to a new screen that will show a summary of current Apartments, Shared, Room & Board, House, Rooms and Suites for rent. If you click on "Rooms" that will bring up all of the Rooms for rent and you can compare your place with what other people are offering and charging.
Can I get a refund if my ad is rented before the 15 days are up?
Refunds are not provided.
Why haven't I received any calls about my rental?
There are times of year when the demand for housing is not as great (i.e. Mar - July) so you might not rent your place as quick as you want. If you are not getting phone calls then you should check that the ad is activated and that your contact information on the ad is correct. Next you should compare your ad with other ads to ensure you are asking a fair price. We always recommend that you add pictures to help rent your place faster.
