The Residence Life & Education Team is comprised of caring, talented, and energetic student and professional staff members who are committed to developing and supporting the population of nearly 2,300 students living in residence.
Staff Descriptions
Community Leaders (CL)
Community Leaders are student-staff members who act as the primary resource for students living in residence. CLs complete an extensive training program including sessions in peer helping, conflict mediation and resolution, crisis intervention, event planning, and more. CLs also work to explain, address, and report the Community Standards.
Community Leaders organize and host programs and events throughout the year. The programs run by our CLs are a great way to connect with other students in your area, reduce your stress and learn something new! To learn more about the Community Leaders in your neighbourhood, click here.
Residence Program Leaders (RPL)
Residence Program Leaders are student-staff who work with the Coordinator, Student Development and Programming to support the overall Residence Life and Education program through planning both neighbourhood and residence-wide programs and events. For example, our open mics, dances, and athletic events are a great way to reduce stress and connect with other students! Senior Community Leaders (SCL)
Senior Community Leaders are student-staff members who work to support the overall Residence Life and Education program through mentoring and coaching the CL team in all aspects of its role in collaboration with the professional staff. SCLs work to model and uphold the Community Standards as well as work to develop programs and educational opportunities for residents. Residence Life Coordinators (RLC)
Residence Life Coordinators are professional staff members who work to support the overall Residence Life and Education Program. The four RLCs are responsible for developing a positive and respectful living environment that promotes academic success, leadership and civic engagement, personal growth, and inclusion amongst all residents. The RLCs supervise Community Leaders and Senior Community Leaders as well as follow up on residence incidents and community issues. They also work on a variety of special projects designed to enhance the residence life experience.
Coordinator, Residence Education (CRE)
The Coordinator, Residence Education, is responsible for the development and delivery of key residence initiatives which enhance the educational experience for students living in residence. These include working to enhance and transform current themed and interested-based communities in residence, to develop and coordinate Living-Learning Communities, the development of an Academic Resources Centre in residence, and the introduction of Community Service Learning opportunities to provide transformational experiences for students living in residence.
Coordinator, Student Development & Programming (CSDP)
The Coordinator, Student Development and Programming (CSDP) is a professional staff member responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of a diverse range of programs, projects, and activities designed to assist residence students in their academic, personal, and interpersonal growth throughout the year. The CSDP is responsible for coordinating the residence-wide programs; training and advising professional staff in programming; and the direct supervisor of the Residence Program Leaders.
Coordinator, Community Development and Student Leadership (CCDSL)
The Coordinator, Community Development and Student Leadership (CCDSL) is responsible for the consistent, fair, and educational student conduct system within the residence community in addition to providing consultation and resources to the RLC team. This position is also responsible for the coordination and delivery of the annual Fall Training Program as well as ongoing paraprofessional development opportunities for student staff. Lastly, the CCDSL coordinates the assessment and evaluation of our RLE program.
Residence Life & Education Receptionist
The RLE Receptionist monitors our primary email account and phone line, greets students and staff as they enter the office, and connects with other Residence Services departments to best assist the RLE team. If you have RLE related questions or need to book an appointment, please contact our receptionist.
Manager, Residence Life & Education
The Manager, Residence Life and Education is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, management, and assessment of the Residence Life and Education program. The manager supervises the professional Residence Life and Education staff team, oversees the residence education curriculum, and manages the administration of a fair and educational residence judicial system. The manager ensures the development and maintenance of a Residence Life and Education program that supports healthy, safe, and academically focused residence communities.
