Community Standards at UVic

UVic Student Residences house over 2,300 students who each come from unique life experiences. In order to maintain the well-being of the residence community, all residents must demonstrate respect for one another and for the community as a whole. These standards are followed by all community members and actively upheld by the Community Leader and Senior Community Leader staff, with the support of the Residence Life Coordinators and Coordinator of Community Development and Student Leadership.

The Residence Community Standards outline your rights and responsibilities in the residence community and includes excerpts from the 2012/2013 Residence Contract that you signed upon acceptance into Residence.

This is an important document that all current and prospective residents must view. While reviewing this document you can expect to gain a better understanding of the community you are moving into and becoming a part of. Expectations around cleaning and maintenance, guests, noise, health and wellness, hosting a responsible function or social gathering are clearly outlined for you in this document.

The Community Standards document also outlines enforcement and possible sanctions which may be applied for behaving inappropriately while living in Residence.
