Residence Life and Education Staff Sept 2011 - Apr 2012

To better service students residence is divided into 7 neighbourhoods - Craigdarroch, Ring, McGill/Park, Lansdowne, Gordon Head, Themed Communities, and Cluster. We also have a team of nine Residence Program Leaders(RPLs) who help support the Residence Life and Education program.

Craigdarroch Neighbourhood

This neighbourhood includes Sir Arthur Currie (AC), David Thompson (DT), Emily Car (EC) and Margaret Newton (MN).

Residence Life Coordinator - Dan Cantiller

Senior Community Leader - Graeme Yamagishi

What's up! My name is Graeme Yamagishi and I am a Senior Community Leader for the Craigdarroch neighbourhood. My major is Pacific & Asian Studies with a focus on Japan, along with a Business minor. (Quite a few wrong turns taken along the way - but you never stop learning!!) I am in LOVE with playing guitar (it's a serious addiction here), as well as cooking, surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, trying new things, and saying "yes" to as many opportunities in life as possible. My plan after school is to travel the world, play a bunch of music, become famous, and rule the world. Ha ha, kidding! …maybe.

Nicholas von Wittgenstein– Sir Arthur Currie (AC)
Greetings and salutations. My name is Nicholas Jacob Peter, Baron von Wittgenstein. But for short, you may call me Nicholas, Baron von Wittgenstein. People will tell you that I am just loud and arguably unstable. This is not true; I am many more things than just loud and arguably unstable. In all honesty, I love to have fun and joke around. Let's chat some time! I like ju-jitsu, surfing, skip-rope, bubblegum, dogs, a nice pair of khakis, ice cream, and well-cropped haircuts. I also like Metallica. Not Nickelback. That distinction is important.

Laura Jeffery - Sir Arthur Currie (AC)
HI! My name is Laura Jeffery. I'm from Kelowna BC and will be entering my second year at UVic in the fall. I am most passionate about art and playing the drums in my band, Kingdom Cloud. When I don't have my nose in the books I'm either playing shows throughout BC, spinning records in my dorm room, or drawing. I also enjoy going on adventures through the Mystic Vale. I love making new friends and can't wait to meet you all!

Ian Lackie- Sir Arthur Currie (AC)
Hi to all the new students attending the best school in BC, my name is Ian Lackie. I am 21 years old, I was born and raised in Ontario or Ontarrible as I have been hearing from many BCers, but after living in a province such as BC I have quickly begun to understand why. I’m currently going into my second year at Uvic taking Economics and Business. I love playing sports, favorites being skiing and biking currently living up in Whistler for the summer I have been endulging in both. To everyone who is leaving home for the first time, leaving friends and family to set off on a new adventure like I did. This coming year for you, much like mine last year will be one you will not forget.

Alex Bourget - David Thompson (DT)
Hellooo! I’m Alex and I’m a third year Religious Studies major who has had the privilege of living on residence for the past two years, the first as a resident and the second as a Community Leader. I’m also proud to announce that I’m taking over administrative duties of the UVic Juggling Club this year, so if you have any interest in tossing hard objects dangerously close to your face, give me a shout!

Neva Sekhon - David Thompson (DT)
Hello everyone! I'm Neva and I am a second year student at UVic and am studying Sociology and Political Science. I am from Vancouver (GO CANUCKS GO) and LOVE to watch my team play. I enjoy traveling and going to concerts and am so excited to move back to Victoria in the fall. I’m looking forward to meeting all the new first years! Get ready for a great year everyone!

Kalen Espey - David Thompson (DT)
What up everyone?  I’m Kalen, and I’m from the small sunny town of white rock.   I am going into my second year for electrical engineering this fall, although I am only here for first semester because I have co-op second semester.  Last year I had a blast with everyone in residence, took part in frosh, and enjoyed activities such as going to the gym, playing soccer with residence, and juggling at the juggling club.  I love the outdoors, cooking, and random little projects.  I’m super excited for this year!  I plan on making a ton of super-fun events, and making a lot of new friends  :D

Mark Sherwood – Emily Carr (EC)
Hey guys, I’m Mark Sherwood and I’m from Osoyoos, BC! I'm studying GEOG at UVic this year as I want to focus in International Development as a career. I love to be active and I'm always down for a game of soccer, ultimate frisbee or pretty much anything! My first year at UVic was awesome and I can’t wait for this year to meet so many more cool people, it’s going to be awesome! I’m looking forward to being a CL this year and if you guys need help with anything or just want to talk, my door’s always open!

Brianna Ono – Emily Carr (EC)
Oh Hai!  I’m Brianna, and this is my second year as a Community Leader.   Last year I was in Cluster 51, but “Oh how the turns have tabled.”  This is my Third year here at UVic, I started out in Fine Arts, but now I’m in a B.Sc. program, majoring in Biology and Psychology.  Current hobbies include, watching Grey’s Anatomy and The Big Bang Theory, reading anatomy textbooks and other really boring material, providing the world with useless information, and looking for new hobbies.  My favourite part about working in Residence is, in fact, the Residents; it’s always a blast to see everyone having fun at events, and it’s going to be a lot of fun building a sweet Res-Fam with you all!

Kenza Moller – Emily Carr (EC)
Hi! I’m Kenza, and this will be my third year at UVic and in res. I’m taking psychology and professional writing. I’m originally from the Dominican Republic and I love scary movies, exploring Victoria, and drinking inordinate amounts of coffee. When the weather’s nice, I like being outdoors hiking, camping, or just enjoying a nice day at Cadboro Bay. I’m looking forward to meeting you all in September – this year is going to be amazing!

Markus Spodzieja – Margaret Newton (MN)
Oh hey everyone! My name is Markus Spodzieja, but if you get to know me you'll find I also respond to Spudzie . I'm an island boy, born and raised. Mostly north island, but most recently is Victoria (obviously). I'm also a theatre major (Yes, yes, get the jokey jokes out of your system now) and I am having the most fun of my life doing it. I'm also a hardcore gamer, a biker, a reader and an all around nice guy. This will be my second year in the CL role, and let me tell you, BOY AM I STOKED! Can't wait to see you all around! :D But really, enough about me, how's your summer going? Had any time for some relaxy vacationing yet? All the best, Markus!

Emily-Marie (Effy) Fleury – Margaret Newton (MN)
Quick Facts: Effy, 19, second year, previous resident of Ring Road Res, undecided Social Sciences/Humanities major (the undecided part concerning Political Science, English, and Sociology), and inhabitant of the not-so-distant harbour city of Nanaimo, B.C.
Darn, I got all of the easy stuff out of the way, and this needs to be at least 50 words long... never mind. Got it now. See you in res! Oh, and I like movies. A lot.

Rylee Laveck – Margaret Newton (MN)
Hey ya’ll, My name is Rylee I am from Dawson Creek, BC and this will be my 2nd year in Vic, (3rd in post- Ed). I spent my first year in Edmonton studying theatre arts, which are a huge part of who I am. So if you ever want to talk musicals, dance, singing, or music in general, I’m your girl! I am now in elementary education here in Vic. I love kids, and have worked in multiple elementary schools, summer camps and have taught dance for half of my life now. So if you ever want some dance lessons call me up!! I also love sports and the outdoors (I have lived on a horse ranch my whole life) so I am all about being active and having fun. I love board games and oreos. Chickens are my worse fear, and I am a TERRIBLE speller. Oh! I also rock at video games! I challenge anyone to a game of Mario party! BRING IT!

I am excited to meet you all this fall!!

Kathleen Irving - Ring Road (RG)
Hey I’m Kathleen. This will be my second year as a CL. Last year I lived in the quiet suburbs of McGill/Park in the Joseph Cunliffe Residence. I am very excited for another year and cannot wait to meet all of you! During the summer, I live in Tsawwassen and work at Splashdown Waterpark. In my free time I like to swim, go to the gym, and dance. I am currently in the Faculty of Education and I am studying to become an elementary school teacher. I love working with youth and am very excited to plan some fantastic programs throughout residence. I really enjoy residence life and everything it has to offer. I hope to get to know as many of you as I can, so please introduce yourself!

David Morris - Ring Road (RG)
I'm Dave, I'm from White Rock and now a 4th year Psychology student. This will be my first year with Res Life and I'm excited to get to know you all. I enjoy golf, watching quality cinema (aka I spend too much time watching movies) and love my Nucks (as I write this Game 7 against Boston is 5 hours away!!!).  I spent first year in Ravenhill, second in Cluster, and third off campus (suddenly I feel old) and can say living in residence can't be beat.  Almost forgot, I also love using brackets!

Kaitlyn Thompson - Ring Road (RG)
Hey all! I’m Kaitlyn, and I am a second year writing and political science student. I’m not sure what I am going to do with a degree in either of the above mentioned categories, but I do know that I love what I am studying almost as much as I love living in Victoria! I was born in Edmonton, but grew up in Costa Rica, it was amazing! I have a mad passion for travelling and photography, as well as reading and writing, chilling with friends, and playing pick-up sports. I love meeting new people, and am super stoked for the upcoming year!

Owen Pachal - Ring Road (RG)
I'm going into my third year at UVIC, studying political science and economic policy. This will be my first year as a CL. I'm excited to become a part of the Ring Road community in the 2011/2012 school year, and look forward to meeting all of the residents.

Chloe Nemier - Ring Road (RG)
Hey guys! I’m Chloë and I’m going into my third year at UVic as a Psychology student. I spend my summer months at home in North Vancouver working up on Grouse Mountain and as a part-time nanny. Growing up I spent the vast majority of my time as a competitive dancer, going to places such as Los Angeles and Russia, and was lucky enough to bring it with me to university as a member of the UVic Dance Company. I love watching movies, playing laser tag, eating practically everything, and being on the water on my family’s boat.

Shane Campbell - Joseph Cunliffe (JC)
My goodness, another school year already eh? My name is Shane and I’m a Vancouverite going into my third year at the University in the creative writing program focusing on poetry and drama. I was a community leader in Haig Brown last year and I look forward to round two. I love writing, video games, movies, and life because I’m just that optimistic. I've got this feeling it's going to be a fantastic school year.

Michelle Dumont - Joseph Cunliffe (JC)
Hi! My name is Michelle and I've lived in Calgary, Alberta up until last year. This will be my second year at UVic and I'm working towards a B.A. in English. Being an English major, I'm just going to own up right now to being a humungous bibliophile, I can't get enough of reading and books! Outside of that, I'm quite passionate about music and photography (though not very good at either....yet!) and like to spend time playing the incredibly awesome sport of field hockey. Other random facts about me is that I drink waaaaay too much green tea, cheer for the Habs, and own way too many pieces of jewelry.

Jeremy Gosselin - Shirley Baker (SB)
I’m about long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners, and picnics in the park. Actually... I just wish I was batman. But I probably wouldn’t wear my underwear outside of my pants. I enjoy all sports, and the diced potatoes they serve for breakfast at the cafeteria. I love classic video games, classic cars, and classic rock. And I especially love Victoria.

Michelle Morris - Shirley Baker (SB)
Hey there folks! My name is Michelle, and I'm heading into my third year at UVic as a Theatre Major. This year will be my third year of living on Residence and my second year as a Community Leader, I can't wait to kick off another year with all you awesome people. A few things you should know about me: I am a West Coast gal, born and raised in Powell River. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, kayaking, and trail running to name a few. I adore hockey specifically the Canucks. Music and dance are near and dear to my heart. You will often find me humming a tune, rocking out to dubstep, or just dancing it out. I love to chat and get to know new people and I'm a great listener so please don't hesitate to come by for a visit or a cup of tea.

Paul Hunter - Hugh Stephen (HS)
Hello everyone.  I am a second year software engineering student.  I was born here in Victoria but moved up island to Black Creek (north end of Comox Valley) where my family started a certified organic farm.  In my spare time (when I have some) I longboard and spend time on my own projects, such as folding 1000 cranes with a wingspan as wide as my thumbnail this summer or helping my peers with homework.  If you need a hand with any non-artsy subjects (math, physics, chem., bio, csc) then I’m your man.

Erika Aspen - Hugh Stephen (HS)
I'm going into my second year and hope to get a double major in Biology and Psychology (after changing my degree around a good 4 times aww yeah). I spent my first year of res in Ring Road and had the best time of my life, which is when I knew I wanted to be a CL. I love volleyball, skimboarding, jams (music, not the fruit preserve), LOST, being a master chef, and just generally having a good time. Can't wait to meet you guys and get ready for one crazy year!

Cailin O’Hern - Park (PK)
Hey everyone! My name is Cailin and I'm a second year from Seattle, WA. At the moment I'm leaning towards an anthropology degree, although originally I was a business student. I'm obsessed with photography. I also write super-short stories on random objects like receipt paper (when I worked at a movie theatre called The Bay and a frozen yogurt shop) or ticket books (where I currently write down orders as a sushi waitress). I recently had a poem published in Island Writer's Magazine and I'm still pretty pumped about that. I can't wait to head back to UVic in the fall-- this year is going to be awesome!

Sonora Godfrey - Park (PK)
Hello! I'm Sonora Godfrey and I'm so excited to meet you all! I had an awesome time in Rez last year in Park Hall, and am back as a second-year student studying Psychology. I used to live in England but have been in Victoria for 10 years and love it here. I paint, model, and write, and love late-night trips to Tim Horton's!

Rose Pappas-Acreman - Park (PK)
Hi everyone! I'm Rose Pappas-Acreman and I'm a second year Greek and Roman Studies Major. I was born and raised in Kamloops, B.C. and have loved living in Victoria. Some fun facts about me are that I have Australian citizenship, I love tennis, and I'm absolutely addicted to traveling.

Lansdowne Neighbourhood

This neighbourhood includes Sanderson (SA), Hodges (HO), Ravenhill (RA), Helmcken (HE), Trutch (TR) and Carroll (CA).

Residence Life Coordinator – Lawrence Lam

Senior Community Leader - Cole Konyk

I’m Cole, and I had the privilege of being a CL in Shirley Baker last year. I’m study-ing political science and economics, both of which I really enjoy. I’m from Calgary and I love living and studying in Victoria. Fun facts about me: I play way too much badminton, and I take it very seriously. I am always down for a good hike, and I really like going off of the trail and doing a scramble. I pretend that I’m macho and don’t have time for chick flicks, but I secretly enjoy them way too much… I can play the tuba, and I sometimes rap under the alias of the MC Coletrayne. One time in grade six I volunteered to retrieve a ball that had bounced into a dumpster as the end of break bell rang, and I got trapped in said dumpster (I eventually got out, but I spent the rest of the day smelling like garbage juice...). I am OBSESSED with perogie day in the caf, it just doesn’t get any better than that! I was 5 2' until grade 11. I love spending my time with friends and going on adventures.

Alexander McLennan – Sanderson (SA)
Hi everyone! I'm Alex or "Crusher", either is fine. I'm going into my third year at UVIC and my first year in the elementary school education faculty and could not be more excited! I love playing ultimate, curling, and listening to tons of music on my computer and on my record player.
Last year I was a CL in Ring road and had such a great time meeting everyone and goofing around. Hope to see you around and I'll try and make this the best year ever!

Becky Robertson – Sanderson (SA)
My full name is Rebecca Ann Robertson but I usually go by Becky. I was born in Richmond and lived there with my family until I was seven when we moved and since then I have lived in Coquitlam. Im studying Political Science and hope to get into International Relations in the future. I absolutely love to dance and trained for 15 years in ballet, jazz, tap, stage, lyrical, modern, and contemporary. Another passion of mine is photography which I took up in grade 10 after taking my first photography class in school. I have been hooked ever since and rarely will you see me without my camera.

Brody MacDonald – Hodges (HO)
Hello Everyone! I am Brody, and this will be the second year I’ve had the opportunity of living in residence at the University Of Victoria. I am studying for a Political Science major and a Public Administration minor. I’m from Abbotsford but love the atmosphere in Victoria! I love soccer, cooking, snowboarding and photography! I am very excited for another amazing year here at UVic!

Maddy Slade – Hodges (HO)
My name is Madelynn Slade and it is my third year at UVic.
I am from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta (you've probably never heard of it, but it's an easy find on Google maps). I love Pokémon, talking and making cookies. As such, I am always up for impromptu poké battles, conversation and cookie eating. This is my first year as a CL and I am having a blast! I can't wait to meet you, so stop on by whenever you'd like!

Jacob Lewin – Ravenhill (RA)
Hey everyone! My name is Jacob, and I am very excited to be returning for my second year as a Community Leader! I'll keep this simple: My hobbies include (but are not limited to) standing up, sitting down, and lying horizontally (occasionally while sleeping). Some of my favourite things are basketball, wasting time on the internet, and food that I don't have to cook for myself. As you can see, res. is the place to be for me, which is part of what brings me back here in my fourth year at UVic as a psychology major. That, and meeting you.

Taylor Sands – Ravenhill (RA)
Hey, I'm Taylor and I'm completely psyched to be a CL this year. This will be my second year and I'll be continuing my studies in Anthropology. I live in Port Moody, BC but my love lies on Commercial Drive in Vancouver where I hope to move someday. I'm a little obsessed with anything Disney and I'm making it a goal to one time take a year off and work in Florida at Disneyworld. I definitely have a loving passion for the arts, including musical theater. I also love people (and talking), so feel free to approach me anytime! I'm looking forward to an awesome year!

Nicholas Buitelaar – Helmcken (HE)
Hey Guys! My name is Nick Buitelaar and I was born in Toronto, Canada. I've lived overseas all my life so this is my first time living in Canada and I love it! Currently, I'm in my second year of the Business program here at UVic. My hobbies are really just playing sports, I love to be outdoors and get exercise with friends. The introduction is only about 65 words so if I need to add more it's no problem at all. I'm really enjoying Jakarta and being home with my family, it's hard not being able to see them for 6 months. I hope you're having a great summer and enjoying the Victoria summer! If there's anything else I need to send you just let me know!

Jasdeep Randhawa – Helmcken (HE)
Oh hello there! I am really excited for my second year as a community leader and my third year in the humanities faculty at UVIC. I moved here from Surrey and although Victoria’s glory days are somewhat limited to the summer, I wouldn’t want to study anywhere else in Canada. I have an obsession for the stars above, the Transformers movies and anything orange (colour, candy, fruit, you name it). I also like to make up words as I go. I can’t wait to meet you all in person and to make this year unforgettable.

Bobby Eng – Trutch (TR)
Shalom, my name is Bobby Eng, my real name is Robert Eng, but even my parents don’t call me that so I probably won’t answer to that. I was born in Richmond, BC but moved to the island when I was 2 and have lived here ever since. I graduated from Stelly’s Secondary School and came to UVic to play varsity soccer. I am in my 3rd year here and am in the Recreation and Health Education program. It’s awesome!!! I have travelled all around Europe and parts of Africa. I love anything to do with sports, exploring, the beach, and eating. I am always down for an obscure late night mission or game. My favourite colour is orange, and I can be super loud. Finally a few quick facts. Favourite movie: the Karate Kid (yes, very stereotypical). Favourite book: The Catcher in the Rye. Beverage of choice: chocolate milk.

Cecania Alexander – Trutch (TR)
I am Cecania Alexander. My name is a smidge odd but, if it helps, it rhymes with “lasagna”. Actually, anyone may simply call me Lasagna. I am a wee bit of many things, all smooshed together much like the goodies in such an Italian dish. I’d say my personal noodles, cheese, sauce, etc. Writer (that’s my major at UVic), reader, ukulele player, skydiver (well, just once, but I love saying that), morning person, movie watcher, cook, adventurer, swimmer. I dream of being a jet pilot and owning a sailboat, I love my family, I’m warm, happy, I value punctuality, and enjoy making people feel comfortable and content.

Blair Moro – Carroll (CA)
I was once a wee lad. Now I am not. My name is Blair Moro and I am a CL in this new school year. I like long walks on the beach and holding hands... oh wait that's for my e-harmony page. I like to get stoked, its AWESOME.  Awesome is probably my favorite word. I am a Theatre student who wants you all to come and see all the productions! I like to ramble.  Oh and fight club is great.  I am big into the environment and love camping! COME MEET ME! (PS. I give pretty awesome hugs)

Megan Melville – Carroll (CA)
Hello! My name is Megan Melville and I'm entering my third year at Uvic, and my second year in the Elementary Ed program. This summer I did my first teaching practicum at on Orphan school in Tanzania…my favorite part was throwing them all a birthday party and filming the whole school singing "Friday." I’m thrilled to be back in Canada, but I miss Africa’s people, culture, language, and "hakuna matata" way of life. I live in the small town of Ladner, just outside Vancouver, and I’m into horses, volleyball, soccer, singing, and dancing! Cheers, and Karibuni (welcome).

Senior Community Leader - Grace Feeney

Hey Folks!! My name’s Grace, and this is my fifth (and hopefully final) year at UVic for my Elementary Education Degree. I’ve lived in res for 3 years, with one off-campus, and I am ecstatic to be returning to the reslife team! Last year was my first year as a CL where I worked in Craigdarroch, and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store. I’m from Calgary, but I absolutely love the West Coast life and all of its beauty. I’m also completely addicted to coffee, caffeinated beverages, hot sauce, new music and all things Taylor Swift.

Chris Lewchuk – Poole (PL)
Hey there! My name is Chris Lewchuk and I am a 3rd year Biology student at Uvic. This will be my second year working as a Community Leader with ResLife, and I am WAY excited to get this amazing year rolling. I know we have a great year in store for each and every resident here at Uvic, and if this is your first year in University, let me be the first to say WELCOME TO WHAT WILL POSSIBLY BE THE GREATEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE! Now that you are aware of the amount of awesome that is going to take place this year, I will tell you a little about me. I was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK and was moved to Spokane WA when I was ten. I absolutely suck at all sports, but I have a thing for music. The only trace amount of athletic talent I have is that I get around Victoria on a long board. That's pretty much the extent of it. In the summer, I live back home in Spokane and I have a job as a driver for Dr.Pepper. My ultimate goal in my academic career is to get my masters in occupational therapy. I had an amazing experience as a Community Leader last year, and I am honored to have the chance to bring that experience to residents again this year!

Satya Scott – Poole (PL)
Hey there! My name’s Satya and I’m plunging into my second year at Uvic, studying Biochemistry and Environmental Studies. I love getting down and nerdy, and am always willing to offer my little brain. I grew up on the border where Washington meets British Columbia, in the definitional equivalent of pretty much nowhere. However I spent most of my time in Grand Forks, BC where I was born, went to high school, and enjoyed most of my tomfoolery.  I strongly believe music is the cure for just about everything, even the common cold. It’s going to be a killer year!

Stephanie Glover – Poole (PL)
Hey everyone, my name is Stephanie Glover, I am from Coquitlam B.C. (mainland,) and I am studying at Uvic to become an Elementary school teacher. I am a Lifeguard and an Aquafit instructor and I love anything active. Victoria is pretty much my favourite place. I love the beaches, Beacon Hill park, downtown and especially Uvic. I’m stoked to meet everyone new, and I’m sure this year is going to be Awesome!

John Millsip – Haig Brown (HB)
Coming from Langley, British Columbia, John Millsip is thoroughly stoked for the 2011-2012 school year! Studying Russian and History, John aspires to become a high school history teacher upon completion of post-secondary.
With a love for music and film, he's always ready for a discussion about anything. With his door always open, John's always willing to and looking to spend some time with his peers and having a good time.

Lisa Alguire – Haig Brown (HB)
Hey! I’m Lisa! I grew up in the sunny Okanagan, but I belong to the West Coast! This will be my fourth year at UVIC but definitely not my last! I am a theatre major and am planning to go into education after my degree! I have been a skier/snowboarder since I could walk and I am a total beach bum in the summer! I like to sing, dance, and listen to a lot of music! People say I laugh a lot but I think everyone is just so funny! I am SO EXCITED to meet all of you!

Joseph Leroux – Haig Brown (HB)
Hey everyone, my name is Joseph Leroux.  I am currently in the process of changing from the faculty of Social Sciences (Geography) to the faculty of Fine Arts (Creative Writing).  I am a passionate musician and social character who loves to jam or just hang out, often with a good cup of coffee or a frosty pint of amber ale:)  My first year at UVic was a rollercoaster that left me full of fond memories and an atrocious sleep pattern. There is so much 2nd year could bring and I’m stoked to find out what it will be.  Come along for the ride why don't you? It should be fun.

Nathan Gates  – Richard Wilson (WI)
Hi y’all Nathan here I’ll be one of your Community Leaders for the coming year! I’m currently going into my fourth year here at UVIC in the Faculty of Humanities in the Greek and Roman Studies Department. I am an island kid, having lived all of my life on Vancouver Island and I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I’m a fan of bad jokes, CHOCOLATE, rollerblading, soccer, Supernatural, country music, and animals. Can’t wait for this year to begin, and to get to know all of you, it’s going to be AWESOME!

Gen Ryan Tierney Soames - Richard Wilson (WI)
Nothing too exciting there. I am going into my third year and am studying Anthropology.  I lived in Ring Road for my first year in residence and in cluster for my second year.  Brunch is my favourite meal and I am semi-pro at rubix cubing.

Jenna Mosher - Richard Wilson (WI)
I am a second year student who is completely my pre-req’s for my Social Work degree. I am originally from Nanaimo BC however Victoria is very much my home and I love the city! I lived in Ring Road Residence last year and absolutely loved it! I enjoy chatting with old friends, and getting to know new ones as well as trying out new restaurants throughout the city and reading in the sun. I’m looking forward to being more involved in the residence community and being there to help other first year students have the awesome experience I did.

Themed Communities Neighbourhood

This neighbourhood is comprised of Tower (TW), South Tower (STW) and Wallace (WA).

Residence Life Coordinator - Olivia Harvey

Senior Community Leader - Jeffrey "Champ" Martin

Oh hey there! My name’s Jeffrey but you may know me by the not-made-up-by-me nickname of Champ. This upcoming year will be my fourth year at UVic and living on res and my third year working in Res Life and Education – two years ago, I was a CL in Ring Road and last year, I worked in Cluster. I’m from North Vancouver and I’m studying Writing and English, looking to go into not-homelessness after I finish my degree. I like bacon, things that look like bacon, people who also like bacon, talk-ing about bacon, making really bad jokes about bacon, obscure recipes involving bacon and also, just to change it up, cholesterol-lowering techniques. I’m really excited to meet everyone in August, I love working in res and I already know that this is going to be the best year of all time!

Jack Burchill-Roberts - Tower (TW)
Hi, my name is Jack.  I'm from Richmond, BC.  I'm studying History, French and Writing and planning on becoming a High School teacher.  I enjoy watching movies, working out and writing different stories and scripts. One of the things I'll be looking forward to next fall when I start as a CL is getting to plan all the activities around campus and Victoria.

Kyle McLellan - Tower (TW)
Heeeey there!!! My name is Kyle McLellan and this will be my second year working as a Community Leader at UVic. I am in my 3rd year of school studying political science and international relations, and more recently taking an academic interest in sport! In my spare time I am always doing SOMETHING whether it’s playing sports, working out, jamming to some sick beats or my favourite pastime of looking for some new Nike kicks. Absolutely pumped to meet all of you and looking forward to having a stellar year together!!

Adele Green - Tower (TW)
Hey! My name is Adele Green and I am going into my second year in the School of Health Information Science. I am the co-president of the Youth Against Cancer club here at UVIC and am a strong activist for cancer prevention. I love living on the Island and can be often found on the weekends out on the water fishing or at the beach. However, I’m most content when I’ve got a paintbrush in my hand, a blank canvas and music blaring in the background!

Sean Browne – South Tower (STW)
Greetings, residents! I am Sean Browne, and I was born and raised in Port Coquitlam, a quaint suburb northeast of Vancouver. I am entering my second year studying for a double major in Physics and Astronomy and want to eventually search for planets outside our solar system. Either that or go into space. Ideally both, but I'd be happy with either one. My interests include photography, soccer, gaming, running, and hiking. I‘m loving Victoria so far. It's one of the most beautiful places I've seen, and it has a spirit to it that I think you'll find enthralling.

Nicole Goldring – South Tower (STW)
Hey Guys! My name is Nicole and I'm going to be your CL for the 2011-2012 school year. I'm originally from Kamloops, B.C. and I'm a second year student studying Geography/Environmental Studies. Some interesting facts about me: I have a scar on my elbow from a jellyfish sting when I was traveling in Australia, I've read all of the Harry Potter books at least a dozen times, and I love anything to do with environmental issues. On that note, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hey y'all, I'm originally from the lovely mountain town of Banff, Alberta. I like long walks down Caddy Bay Beach, not a big fan of Pina Coladas but love getting caught in the Victoria rain ... which is great since that's pretty much every day in winter! I'm studying biology with a bit of psychology but started first year as a Fine Arts major. I'm always up for coffee and a chat, or just coffee, and look forward to meeting everyone!

Torry Harris - Cluster Housing
First off, I want to say how excited I am for this upcoming year! I have always lived in Kamloops, BC and I’m currently going into my second year at UVic, majoring in Psychology. Next May, I am leading a volunteer trip to India with my older sister and I cannot wait! I like finding common ground with someone you just met, good karma and long talks. Tim Gensey - Cluster Housing
I’m Tim, and I hail from Duncan BC, or the place with the really big Hockey stick on the way to Mt. Washington. I am currently studying Business and Economics. I’ve also taken a few CSc courses on the side. Some of my hobbies include coin collecting, playing card games, board games, well most types of games in general. My pet peeve is when you open a CD/DVD/Video Game etc. to find a different item to which you were looking for. Oh, and when a book series changes the style of its spine, seriously, why do they do that?
